Tropical Storm Beryl updates: Millions without power as storm moves from Houston to East Texas

Tropical Storm Beryl has caused significant disruptions as it moves from Houston to East Texas. Originally making landfall as a hurricane, Beryl has now been downgraded to a tropical storm. The storm has resulted in extensive damage, leaving approximately 2.5 million people without power across Texas .

CenterPoint Energy, which services the Houston area, reported that over 217,000 customers were still without power as of the latest updates, though more than 630,000 customers had their power restored within 72 hours after the storm hit. Efforts to restore power are ongoing, with a goal to have substantial restoration by the end of Wednesday .

In addition to power outages, the storm has caused significant flooding and damage to infrastructure. Houston hospitals have had to cut back on services, and recovery crews are working around the clock to address the extensive damage. Residents are advised to stay safe and prepare for potential prolonged outages.
